Working with public housing managers, a listing of targeted children is obtained. Targeted children are those living in public housing between age 6 months and 7 years old. Read Seed, Inc. volunteers select age-appropriate books that project healthy subject matter and positive self-images. Inserted in each bag is parent information advising of their role in literacy skill building through reading early and often to children, and why it makes a difference. Community-wide distribution allows delivery of books directly to the child's door to insure our goal: "books in the home."
